There are times when a room starts to feel tired. Nothing’s wrong exactly: the sofa’s still comfortable, the table’s where it was, the light comes in as always. But something wants changing. The first temptation is usually a big one: a new sofa, a fresh coat of paint, a new layout. Yet often something much simpler and cheaper will do. Walls make up most of what we see in a room, and what hangs on them has a huge effect on how it feels. Changing the art is one of the most effective ways to refresh a space without moving a single piece of furniture.<\/p>\n

Why art changes so much<\/h2>\n

Furniture sets a room’s structure, but art sets its atmosphere. The same living room, with the same grey sofa, can feel calm with a sage abstract, warm with a terracotta landscape, or bright with a coastal print in blues and sand. The colour, scale and character of the art shift the temperature of the whole room.<\/p>\n

Changing art with the seasons makes sense not because of fashion, but because light and mood shift through the year. A few ideas to start with.<\/p>\n

In spring<\/strong>, as the light returns, lighter pieces appeal: botanicals, soft greens, plenty of white. In summer<\/strong>, coastal palettes, blues and sands, that cool things visually.
